There seems to be a large misconception that you can get rich quick or overnight when trying to make money online. Just as with any business you need to treat it as that – a business. Of course there will be windfalls or times when you come across a lucrative market, product or website, but I’m here to tell you that there are a lot of things that you need in order to make a full-time (or even part-time) income off the internet.
For every 10 ways that I have tried to make money online, maybe one of them has been successful to the point of generating some decent income. I’ll also point out though, that sometimes it’s pure dumb luck when I happen upon a particular idea or strategy for making money. For example, there is one post on a blog of mine that had been sitting around for several years that continued to generate a few more visits each month than the previous month. I tweaked and modified it a little bit, and that single post now generates $500 – $1,000 per month. I’m not smarter than anyone else, I just happened to identify a growing need and tailored my content to address that need – luck and timing were the keys to my success.
There are a lot of information-type products – courses, ebooks, guides, and downloads that promise to help make you thousands of dollars or even hundreds of thousands in a matter of days. Truth be told, if these were so successful – why would people give away their ideas and have their profit centers saturated with competitors?
That’s not to say that all of the products and guides are bogus, but in the internet marketing and making money online industry, there’s a lot of snake oil being passed around.
It takes passion, ambition, and a hard work ethic for people to succeed online and that’s why you see only a few consistently making a lot of money – they have put in the things required to be successful and had some good luck combined with good timing to pull it off. It can be done, you just need to be prepared to do what it takes to succeed.
