That ever-elusive little green bar has been the headaches of many an internet marketer, blogger, and business. If only you could get a higher PageRank (PR) then all of your worries would be solved, right? Sorry to break it to you, but having a higher PageRank doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re going to get more visitors.
There are many sites that I have seen that have a high PageRank that don’t receive very many visitors compared to their lower PageRank counterparts. Personally, I have experienced (and operate) a few sites that have what many would consider to be a good PageRank (5 or higher is kind of my benchmark) that receive very few visitors. Just because you went from a lower PR to a higher PR does not mean you are going to see more visitors on your site, conversely, when the PR on some of my sites has dropped – I haven’t seen a decrease in visitors.
Focus on Content
PageRank is merely one indicator out of thousands that will determine how much traffic your site will receive. Your topic, appeal, content, interest, and distribution of your content will sometimes play a significantly larger part in driving traffic compared to PageRank. While it’s an interesting benchmark for you to compare against other sites – you need to stop fretting so much about trying to get a higher PageRank.
Focus on building content, participating in social settings (online and offline), and continue to build and grow your site or blog each day – and higher PageRank will inevitably follow.
Stop searching for the end of the rainbow
In internet marketing circles you will find huge amounts of time devoted to the topic of PageRank. In my mind it’s kind of like trying to find the end of the rainbow hoping there will be a pot of gold waiting there for you – it’s not going to happen and you can spend a lot of time and energy spinning your wheels.
Pour your energy into creating a great site
Stop fretting about PageRank and start taking some action growing your blog or site – your journey will be much more enjoyable and the rewards far greater.

A Very Good Post and sound advice
It’s very easy to get caught up PR craze.
Rather, the most important thing is to build solid content.
Got your RSS Reader bookmarked
Looks like creating interesting posts is becoming a habit of yours lol.
High pagerank indeed does not mean that your site will receive more visiters, however it is kind of a indicator of how popular a website is. I think that it is also importent if you want to sell ads or links on your website as most people prefer high pagerank. If you look at all the popular blogs you can see that they have a high pagerank and that Google considers them importent.
If you really find pagerank importent and want to increase it then the best thing to do is increase the number of backlinks to your blog.
I personally find pagerank kind of importent, however if you don’t get or have any pagerank it doesn’t mean its the end of the world.
As already said the best thing to do is focus on quality content and pagerank wil eventually follow.
Great Post.
Thanks for the compliment!
I agree about selling ads on your site, if you have a higher PageRank it tends to be much easier if you’re selling to a demographic that is somewhat tech savvy. At the end of the day, all that really matters is accomplishing your goals: whether it’s traffic, sales, or exposure, and PageRank is an indicator of how Google perceives your site – as you said “it;s not the end of the world.”
