Many people who start blogging get all starry-eyed and dreamy when they hear about the potential to make money writing about what they love. It’s great to have goals and aspirations, and I tend to fall into this dreamer category as well. You need to have some type of purpose or goal for the reason you are blogging, as it will push you harder and give you a reason to keep going. I’m a big believer in persistence and perseverance as the way to succeed online – but we need to dream and hope to keep ourselves motivated to continue. Using one of the motivating factors below will help you stick with it when you’re trying to succeed online.
The 3 F-Words of Blogging
I know the title is somewhat crude, but hopefully it lightens your day and gets you to read this post as I think it’s a very important topic. Typically when people try to make money online or blog to create income we are seeking one (or more) of the below goals:
-
Fame
This doesn’t necessarily mean famous as in celebrity status, but it very well could. Whether you are trying to be like Perez Hilton and rub shoulders with the stars or maybe you want to become well-known and an expert in your industry. Using fame as motivation is a great way to stay focused and keep going.
-
Fortune
There is a ton of money to be made online – truckloads of the stuff. Money is one of the biggest motivators because it allows us to create a better life for ourselves. With money, you can explore exotic places, get that new house or car, and can allow you to stop worrying about money and enrich your life.
-
Freedom
One of the most popular appeals of making money and blogging online is the freedom it grants you. Want to travel the world, spend more time with your family, or have more time to do the things you enjoy? Blogging and making money online can allow you the freedom to do the things you have always wanted to do, but never had the chance.
Use something to motivate you
One of the reasons above may be why you are interested in blogging and making money online, or maybe they aren’t. Whatever it is, you want to have goals and ambitions to achieve something so you can stay motivated and persevere through the bumps, hiccups, and road blocks you will undoubtedly face trying to generate income online. However, once you’re there – the rewards can be sweet.
Good luck and don’t give up!

I’ve just started my blog and I’m realizing more and more everyday that they “pros” were right. This is not a get rich quick scheme and motivation is definitely in order.
Although I like all 3 F’s (lol), Fortune and Freedom are my top 2.
