One of the most discouraging and frustrating aspects as a beginner trying to make money online, is overcoming the instant satisfaction mindset. You must continually work at building your money-making ventures in order for them to be successful. It will take a lot of time, social interaction, energy, and effort – but the results can be extremely rewarding. Getting into the mentality that making money is a journey that is constantly changing and evolving will help you facilitate your own success.
How many ventures have you tried and given up on because there was no immediate gratification? There are thousands of new sites and blogs that start each day, with only a fraction of them ever achieving some level of success. The reason many fail in making money online is that they give up (or give in) too easily and can’t see the long-term potential.
Building a foundation for success
The ability to make money online is determined proportionately by the amount of effort you put forth (persistence) and the value that you provide your visitors (quality). These two factors are the lifeblood of your blog or site and will determine whether you succeed online. So how do you build a site that will attract more people and continue to grow?
-
Persistence
You must acknowledge that you will have to keep working at making your site better, keep adding content regularly, interact in your industry circles, and continually build your site.
-
Consistency in production
Whether you are coming out with new products, adding new blog posts or articles, or building your social profile, you need to do these things on a consistent basis. For products – continue to make your existing items better. For content – set yourself a schedule for releasing new articles or posts on a regular basis. For social networking – build allies, friends, and trust with those who can help you achieve your goals.
-
Don’t sell out
Be real and helpful to your visitors, don’t sell out and promote products that are junk. Don’t recap the news that you have read on other sites – unless you have something significantly meaningful to say or a very unique approach to the topic.
-
Provide ongoing value
The reason that many sites achieve the level of success that they do, is because of the value that they continue to provide to their users. Providing your visitors something of value will give you consistent returns in the long-run. A perfect example is DoshDosh who hasn’t posted in many months, yet still has an RSS subscriber count of over 30,000 people.
-
Don’t give up
The single biggest reason that people fail to make money online is their inability to persevere through their initial steps. You need to acknowledge and accept that it may take a lot of time before your results will pay off and many times it may feel like you’re alone and talking to yourself, however, you need to accept the fact that you need to push through and persist in order to succeed.

Showing up every day with 100% effort goes a long way towards success!
I totally agree, too often you can easily get caught in the trap of not doing much of anything, or get sucked into reading and at the end of the day you haven’t really accomplished anything.
Hi BigManta,
I would add one more thing which is a guideline for me when I work on my blog. KEEP LEARNING. Learn from other experience and mistakes and of course, from your mistakes.

Place For Bloggers thanks for stopping by!
Good point, learning is integral to growing and evolving your blog or site to the next level to achieve whatever goal you have. You should balance learning with taking action, I know a lot of people who do a lot of reading but fail to ever start something, and they are always wondering why they can’t make any money.
Great Information BigManta ~
I think Especially important are being persistent, and not giving up. My new blog has been up for a couple of weeks now. I had a friend ask me a few times, so is it all set up and ready to go? How long will you be working on it? – The answer of course is as long as it exists. There will always be something to add, improve, market, and the like.
Heather, totally agree that the persistence is key at a blog or site will never be finished. So many people that try to make their site a success give up after a few days or a couple weeks because they haven’t seen the results they expected. You won’t become popular overnight, but in the long run if you’re persistent you will succeed. Thanks for dropping by as well!
Hi BigManta,
Thanks for stopping by my website. Much appreciated.
I would still consider myself a newbie and have come to realise that it does take a long time to watch your progress get better and better. Doing the hubpage challenge helped to spur me on as the results were apparent within a month.
However I know that this is not going to be ongoing success and that I need to work on creating my own websites if I want consistent profits for the future.
Question: Love your favicon and your profile pic. I see you have details about how to do the favicon but how do you create the cartoon profile pic. Think I would like to add one to my site.
Thanks
Tiptopcat,
Thanks for the compliment on my profile pic
In response to your question, I just added an article that shows you how to create a cartoon pic for your profile or avatar. You can view it here: How to Create a Cartoon Pic of Yourself.
Hope this helps!
